A Family Tradition with a Modern Spin

Meera and Nehal were on one of their road trip adventures, ready to explore a new city. As they were traveling along the east coast of Florida, they stopped at the Friendship Foundation in Jacksonville. “We were going to see the Friendship Fountain and at night I felt like it was just as beautiful as Meera was to me,” Nehal said, “as soon as I found someone who could help me snap a few photos, I was down on my knee and looked her right in the eye with a giant smile and asked her to marry me.” What a surprise for Meera! “I was in complete shock that I couldn’t say anything for a good minute. But I finally said yes and gave him a really big squish.” Let the newest adventure begin!

For their adventure down the aisle, Meera and Nehal were looking for a location with all the right amenities, convenience, and architectural appeal. With that in mind, Meera and Nehal fell in love with the Palmetto Club at FishHawk Ranch. Meera said, “We wanted a more familiar and private setting where we felt family could mix and mingle, and where we knew our wedding would be an unforgettable experience for not only us but also our family and guests.”

For their theme, Meera and Nehal wanted something unique with a wow factor. They also wanted to maintain a traditional look that they knew their family would really enjoy. For their traditional Indian ceremony, their colors were maroon, gold and white along with a stunning mandap. “The wedding décor and mandap was exactly how we pictured it in our mind,” Meera said. For the reception, they wanted to make the night feel more lively and vibrant with color. Their colors were teal, maroon, gold, and silver and were chosen based on their attire for the night. “We loved everything about it from the backdrop, draping’s, the frame and chandelier, the chaise and sofa, and the centerpieces. Absolutely gorgeous!” Meera said.

Meera and Nehal were looking for delicious, traditional Indian cuisine as food is a big part of their Indian culture. The food had to be traditional Gujarati food with the taste, quality and presentation being a big factor. Puff ’n Stuff Catering did not disappoint with any of the meals served throughout the day. The meal started with hors d’oeuvres consisting of Chicken Tika, Chili Paneer Skewers, and Vegetable Samosas. For lunch, there was Chana Masala, Matar Paneer, Butter Chicken, and Jeera Rice. To top of the wedding festivities, for dinner, there was Gujarati Dal, Peas and Eggplant Curry, and Sukhi Bhaji, “Lucille and Kalli were flexible, accommodating, and did a great job coordinating the food preferences for our two families,” Meera said.

Meera and Nehal wanted everyone to enjoy every moment of their special day. Their best advice to other couples planning a wedding is to hire a wedding planner. “It was extremely important to me to make sure that no one in the family would have to run around and assist with wedding activities,” Meera also adds, “have a general idea of what type of venue setting and location you would like to get married in. Food and everything else will come together once the venue is chosen.”

Meera and Nehal’s wedding truly gave the essence of a traditional Indian wedding with a modern theme. Their family and friends enjoyed every moment of the big day, but Meera and Nehal have their own special moments. For Meera, “The most memorable moment of our wedding day is the moment DJ Tarak announced us as Mr. And Mrs. Nehal Patel. As soon as those doors opened, I saw our families and I became so excited. There was a sense of relief that hit me that the stress was over and done with that I could finally enjoy the rest of the evening with all of my loved ones.” For Nehal, “The last hour of the reception was the best! I really enjoyed the energy of the people dancing and having fun. I also felt the relief of pulling the entire event off with no mishaps, everyone in the room was just so happy for us, and enjoying the remainder of the evening.”

Congratulations Meera and Nehal!
